Indian Taliban back in action

Indian Taliban back in action

The names change, from Bajrang Dal to Sri Rama Sena, but the radical Hindutva organizations continue to assault the countrymen in the name of ‘protecting Indian culture’. This time they attacked women. When I had written against such groups earlier in this blog, there were people protesting and saying that calling them Indian Taliban is too much. But just read the news quote given below and tell me how these Senas are any different from Taliban. Also tell me how come we are vocal against Taliban but so silent on such home-grown organizations.

The Sena activists accused the women of involving themselves in immoral activities, including consuming alcohol, dressing indecently, and mixing with youths of other faith”.

And don’t think that they would stop having fun now. The day when these organizations conduct their annual ritual of cultural protection is coming up. And yes, you guessed it right – the Valentines Day on February 14th. Last year, it was the turn of Bajrang Dal to clean up the culture. We got to either speak up against these groups or get ready to be Talibanized in the near future. Taliban too, started out with small scale operations.

When I met one of my online friends in Mangalore months back, he pointed a couple sitting together in the CCD and asked me whether sitting together like that is allowed in Kerala. He explained telling me, nowadays the so called ‘Moral Police’ in Mangalore is not allowing even that sometime ! I mean they punish the couple if it is a public park or places like that !!

What is wrong with them if girls want to go to Pubs ? If they do not want to go to pubs, don’t go. Why punishing girls in a brutal way ?

  • jb Says:

Ram sena is good organization but the way they treated girls last day is not good. Yes am an mangaloorian, I have seen girls in pubs and how they behave and wat they think humm…. by experiencing that I think they deserve it but the girls which are punished now? I am not sure abt these girls wat is there character and all. In mangalore many of the girls are from outside city and came here to studies and all and they spend there time like call girls which is like in films and they dance like cab-ray! some time! of-cos not all girls some are. I have seen that; its not good for girls doing like that. Yes I know some will oppose my comments but still I want to say one thing if some one rapes or abuses some girl then don’t tell any excuse, this kind of behavior makes girls to undergo abuses by devil kind men some time. Also just think abt your parents wat they expectation from you and how you should behave and all in that point of vue, I support the strategy of RamSena. but the beating and all its not fair.

Also in mangalore freedom is too much it should be controlled by local administrator Instead of Ramsana Police should take care of this kind of issues…

  • Which Main? What cross? Says:

Well, this has been going on for a long time in Mangalore now. It’s only a matter of time before they start bombing and having large scale riots.

It’s a pity that in a democratic country, that has a pretty elaborate penal code and law order enforcement, these kind of hooligans rule using their own terms. They are no better than Raj Thackeray’s gang nor are they less than terrorists. We all saw on TV what they did! Their leader even justified what his men did.

And I would like to ask jb, the commentator above, a few good things that has been done by Rama Sena in the past that can be highlighted as their major achievement. I am talking about good things that they did for the humanitarian (health, education, fighting poverty, fighting terror, rehabilitation etc) purpose and not for supporting their parent organization’s political agenda.

And how can you say that they deserve that kind of treatment? It’s up to the individuals to decide where they should go and how they should dress or drink. And if that’s done in an illegal or unlawful way, there’s police and law enforcers to monitor that and it’s none of the business of Ramasena or Navneersena or DYFI or Youth Congress or whoever it is!

It’s a pity that even some of the educated youth fall pray to the political agenda of hooligans and goondas. The state government – as usual – maintain that ‘political rivals’ are trying to tarnish BJP. It doesn’t matter who is trying to tarnish or sabotage whom, when the law and order is breached all he has to do is to ‘ACT’ instead of making stupid readymade statements and going to another black magician and astrologer to understand who is behind it.

Unfortunately, this kind of trend is slowly spreading towards the other parts of the country. Protest is a good thing if that can positively yield results… It’s high time the central government did something about it. Every progress that India is making is also spoilt by external terrorists and these kinds of internal political and religious criminals.

I wish some powerful non-political organizations persusade centre to take some action against the people/parties involved (because they have root elsewhere as well) if the state goverment is not doing anything.

Thanks for writing about it Jo.

(Offtopic: I would also expect a post from you on yesterday’s Padmashri awards. I would like to know what Aishwarya Rai has contributed to the art and culture to win a Padmashri. There are thousands of eminent actors who deserve it. I mean, we don’t just give it to beautiful people and mediocre actors, I thought)

  • Nita Says:

Good you spoke up against this Jo! I think it’s disgusting the way these groups are getting stronger and more visible day by day! It is clear that the police think that these are “small incidents” and slowly these groups will become as strong as the Taliban. There is no doubt that they are the Indian Taliban. I have called them the Hindu Taliban on my post. Such fringe elements exist in every religion, but if the civilized people don’t protest and the police don’t act, they will soon be ruling us! There is a real fear of this because of the trends of the past few years. At first one felt these groups were an aberration. But they are not. They use religion to propagate their own agenda of hate…which is in reality against those of other religions, regions and ofcourse women.

This footage was not recorded by bystanders or passers by. Instead, NDTV seems to have somehow conveniently been in position to directly record this attack as it occurred — in the run-up to elections, by another convenient coincidence. My goodness, it’s a good thing we have daring journalism like this and Tehelka-style “stings” happening at just the right moment to help voters make up their minds and do the “right thing”.

Gee, why do I suddenly feel that post-123 India is going to end up with a couple of decades of uninterrupted rule by the Nehru-Gandhi clan, à la Mubarak’s Egypt? Can’t have those Asians going wayward or uppety, now can we?

  • Jo Says:

    >> Din: It seems to me that Mangalore is soon becoming another ‘experimental lab’.

    >> Gopal: Yeah, looks like Mangalore is soon becoming ‘the hub’. I have a friend who is a Mangalore Kannadiga and who is proud of the metro culture the city has – and also about KMC and such. But these days it’s all changing because of a few hooligans.

    >> Ajith: Rightly said Ajith. I don’t understand how can some people say “they invited this”, or “girls are not supposed to drink” etc etc. I would only ask those folks to imagine if such a thing happened to someone who is dear to them!

Your PS is thoughtful. Padmashri is becoming a joke. It seems to me that every political party use this as a chance to please the people who stay close to them or to attract new ones. :-)

    >> Nita: Rightly said Nita. And I appreciate that you wrote about this issue!

  • Ajith Says:

Ram’s had a sena of monkeys. I guess those monkeys were more disciplined than these goons. They wanted to protect Indian culture by assaulting women, wow!! what an idea to grab publicity.

  • Jana Says:

F*** these so called Sena activists and the political GANG who support these goons.

    Shame on humanity.

  • Archana Says:

Jo I’m feeling sick that the state chief minister came out (almost) to defend SRS…will blog about the way politics work soon in the state..the govt has not taken any measures to ban outfits like these and this is hypocrisy!

  • Jo Says:

    >> Ajith: Interesting thing is that such hooligans always use God’s names for their organizations (Sri Rama Sena, Bajrang Dal etc). Such an insult.

    >> Jana: Yeah, it seems like the BJP government in Karnataka is going too soft on these organizations.

    >> Archana: It is very unfortunate Arachana. Unless the government take some action, these goons would think they have the government cover to protect their shameful acts and they will keep going on. Such a pitiful situation.

All these girls who misbehave in pub should be driven out of the country,i completely support Shri RAM SENA,They are correct just think about there parents when they see there daughters in pub drinking.

    Thanks Shri ram sena

  • Jana Yedar Says:

    Hi Krishna,

I respect your view (Democratic country – Write to speak, write to write) on this “ACT”, but F*** I wont support you. If you think that so called Sena has did the right act by BEATING UP girls, tell you man, “GROW UP”, you just grown enough.

Give me a good explanation on this “All these girls who misbehave in pub should be driven out of the country”. Does this mean that only Sri Ram Sena has the right to do all NASTY Fu***** things?

If you are concerned about SAVING INDIAN Culture by beating girls, better you think again before act.
