Hi Jo:
Your song made my day. It is a tough song covered in faux simplicity. As you know it is composed in ReethiGaula, which is one of my all time favorite raagas. Only Raveendran master can do such a feat, using a complicated raaga. Also listen to “Pranathosmi”, although melodious, that song does reveal the complexity of the raaga. Another one of my favorites is “Meetatha” (Poonthottam), composed by Ilayaraaja and of course “Azhagaana Ratchasiyae” by ARR.

KK: Thanks for the info on raaga (I didn’t know!) and the other songs you have listed that made in the same raaga. It is such a beautiful raaga!

hi,
the song sounded good even without he BGM. but i have one suggestion. please be careful while singing “en kinaavil” and “nin kalangam”. in both the places it was off pitch. please go thru the original track. a person who can sing this well can definitely correct that too….
keep singing….once again Good job!!!

Hi Jo, wat a beautiful composition. I love this raaga. This is ur second song in this ragam, kangal irandal being the first. Lovely singing. You are so gifted. Without knowing the raaga, you got its nuances spot on. I wish you sing ‘Sudum nilavu, sudadha sooriyan’ also of the same raaga. If u get the k-track, let me know, I wud love to sing the female portion.

Well done Maestro Jo – Reethi Gowla is my favorite Raaga too. IMHO…any song in this song will be a hit. Can someone tell me a song which wasn’t a hit please? I am in the process of compiling a list of all songs in this raaga from all Indian films.
This is another great song by Raveendran master, I think Priyadarshan is the director..I watched it in Madas in the 80’s. MGS had done a great job !!
BTW you should have done this with Karaoke. However, that might take away the beauty of your voice.

Ritu: Thank you.
NV: “Maestro”?? Come on!
And hey, it’s quite interesting to see that you’re compiling a list based on the raaga of songs. And like you said, almost all songs in this raaga seems to be a hit!
