Siruvani Hills, Palakkad
Posted by JoJan 13
Last Friday, I went to Palakkad with some friends to attend a friend’s wedding. His wedding was on Saturday, so we had a full day to spend there. Our plan was to visit Siruvani Dam, but couldn’t go past the forest department check post as we did not have a sanction letter from the district forest officer. Sp we just enjoyed our ride and clicked some pics. Here are some snaps I took in my mobile phone camera.

Thanks Aravind.
Siruvani dam is about 48 Kms from Palakkad.
I use Sony Ericsson P1i. It’s a pretty good camera phone when used for bright/sunny day time shots.

Yes. P1i is great. I’ve used it for some time.

We went there in a taxi arranged by my friend. His place (Karimba) is close to Mannarkkad (about 40 mins journey from Palakkad).

I think summer won’t be a good time to visit. Either go there after the monsoon (then the whole forest area would be green) or in December/January.

Is this place in Kerala? Give some details about the location and what is the nearest city?
Very nice! What kind of wild life does it have?

Yeah, it is in Kerala. In Palakkad district. It is about 40 minutes of journey from Palakkad town. Don’t know about the wild life it has.

Thanks Ramya.
Sandeep: Yeah, better to go there after the monsoon. And make sure you get a sanction letter from the DFO of Palakkad before going there.

I think you should ask for the district forest office. Perhaps the Palakkad district site may have that info.
