Man eats 68 “dogs” in 10 minutes!
Man eats 68 “dogs” in 10 minutes!
Don’t believe it? Check out the front page of today’s Deshabhimani newspaper (click on the image below to see the full and enlarged version). It says a man ate 68 dogs in a competition organized in America as part of the independence day. And the second prize winner ate the flesh of 64.5 dogs. If you are just stunned at how a person could eat 68 “dogs” in just 10 minutes, check out this link.
As the Malayalam saying goes, “kaala pettu ennu kekkumbum kayar edukkaruthu“…

what a mistake to make !!!!!! really hard to believe that they did not investigate the full story before publishing it on the front page itself… or maybe the reporter wanted to add some pun to the story and did it intentionally?????
July 7th, 2009 at 10:51 am
I don’t think they did it intentionally, even though that might be the explanation that would come out from them.
July 7th, 2009 at 10:55 am

I did see that Deshabhimani published the apology. I did not give clean certificate to any other news papers in this post. In fact, Manorama is the most ignorant of them all and I have written about it in my blog numerous times. Which they have not fixed yet. Check out the following links:

@bijukottappuram
There are a lot of people who do not know whats the meaning of ‘Hot Dog’. And many know only after these goofup came. But when a newspaper publish something,that also in the front page, it is totally different matter. They need to verify it.
And anyone whos having lil commensense will think this – Eating 60 dogs in 10 mins ? WOW, that is unbelievable. And if they have internet access (I do not think Deshabhimani journalists are not tech savvy) they will just type in that in google to get more details.
A journalist should be more responsible as the newspaper is ready by lakhs of people.
And Deshabhimani was the same newspaper who gave news on “Free incoming calls” last year. Remember ?
Every newspaper does something, but when something like this happens, everyone make fun of it, can’t blame them, we are all humans

[...] PS: The copyright of the images given below remains with Malayala Manorama. I should leave proper credits for them, even though they make false claims such as “Manorama Podcast is the first podcast in Malayalam” etc and would never correct it (Deshabhimani is far better in this case, I believe. At least they apologized for their recent goof-up). [...]

[...] Nijumohan has an image of the front page, which has an image of Joey Chestnut with a bone in his mouth. (Image on left from JoCalling) [...]

It was not a hoax,I had seen the day’s paper,what is seen as the days edition on Deshabhimani’s site is a corrected version. And it does not come as a surprise,since the mallu journos are not very known for their worldy knowledge. They never care for whats going around the globe,but in Kerala and their news reports are regional news and politics in Kerala.
